We gathered data of all known successful couples for the last 2 years (June 2014-2016) to determine the typical age difference in international couples that met online. 8 years difference may be slightly larger than the average numbers for local couples where the most successful age gap is believed to be around 4 years.
However, it’s far from 20-30 years gap that some seekers of global relationships set as a goal.
Friends say you're "infatuated" — why can't they see you're in love?"), or warn you that unless this is a fling you'll wind up "lonely, poor or both." Does that just about describe the level of "support" you're receiving? To be fair, your friends may have a point: It is sexy to be with someone different, and there is a certain pride in attracting the interest of a younger mate.Research on age difference in couples suggests that while the desired gap for men and women is around 13-14 years on average (10-15 years), as specified in their partner preferences on online dating sites, in reality long-term pairs only have 3-4 years disparity. The research data may be surprising, but it makes sense.I don’t think anyone would be surprised by the results of this study, but I wanted to know why?
